Well I’m back after my bath with a train full of thoughts… Unfortunately, as usual, I might remember just half of them…
Tonight I thought even more about this “unique, just like everybody else” thing…
I now believe that “unique”, apart from being true, is more of an EGO thing. We are indeed unique… Our finger prints, our lives… The way the caveman created his life, choices and things, by the likes of hunting, procreating and so on… Our lives are created by genes, society, media and eventually personal choices on that fond.
Anyhow… I started thinking about the “Love your neighbour as yourself” part. Maybe the key isn’t in being unique, but in being alike. We are being taught, even since childhood, that the more unique you are, the more cash you get, the better you are… Unless you’re unique in a very awkward way society does not permit. And then I started thinking about all those lovely “unique” people who’ve been put to death or alienated because of their uniqueness.
There’s nothing wrong with being unique. It’s great. But in the struggle to be as unique as they get some of us forgot what it means to be incredibly alike. I won’t get into loving your opposite now, because even as Men and Women we are unique sexes.
However I was thinking that this “alike” thing might just be the answer to lots of our troubles. It might just make us understand that, no matter how different we are, which is our own personal truth and so on… We’re still alike. So, so alike.
That might be the key to peace, solidarity and a better future for our kind.
I remember 9/11/2001. I don’t think any of us will ever forget it. That day one news reporter said: “Today, we’re all americans.” I believe in that. That day we were all alike, maybe except for the people who were glad it happened. The rest of us were alike. And that brought stability, force and love. That love we’re all seeking for, that guides, protects and welcomes us.
Forgetting everything bad or good that your neighbour has done and just being there for them because they are in sorrow. Why do we need sorrow to be there for eachother?
Without contrast there’s no good and bad. It’s all based on perception. If it would be Christmas everyday we’d have no idea what Christmas is. We obviously have two strong forces in our Universe, but few are the “truths” which are almost universal. Such as cash… And even that isn’t universal… Because Bill Gates’ idea of cash is most likely different from the one the lady selling bread in the corner shop has. But the words “hard cold cash” mean the same to both of them. The amount is a whole different thing.
Again… All of us have skin, eyes, a mouth, organs and so on… We are so alike… And, if for one moment we’d forget about our EGO, and the fact that we’re indeed different, who knows what would happen?
