Regardless of stars (although the more the merrier ), we all have our requests when it comes to hotels. So I’m gonna write about what I think a good hotel, of any star rank (except for hostels of course), should offer.

* Offer what you advertise for. If you don’t offer any towels par example, or the bathroom is on the hallway, be sure to let people know. And if you advertise for a minibar, then don’t bloody lock it… Jeez.

* Keep the place clean. It’s not much to ask for.

* If you offer breakfast, it would be better for you to have quality food, and offer less or a poorer variety (maybe even limit breakfast to fewer hours), than offer a lot/high variety of crap.

* Warm water and heating (the last during the winter) are a must. Also a good shower flow is highly appreciated.

* Make sure the people who run your business know how to deal with most issues and speak at least one or two languages fluently… Preferably not just the native language, if that’s not English.

* Apply the smiling policy. Like Starbucks. There are lots of people who are well trained, can smile and would work for less money. Bloody hire them if yours can’t smile.

* If you don’t offer some of those things, trust me, people will never come back.

* Don’t try and make the most profit out of people. They… Well… THEY KNOW. Cutting down on musts isn’t an option.

If I remember more, I’ll jot it down. Meanwhile, feel free to comment.

* Everyone is different. Some like it soft, some like it hard.

* The back, neck and calf are body places that get the most stress and give the best relaxing feeling when rubbed properly. So if it’s something that you should definitely know like the back of your hand, then that’s muscles. Also… Different muscles need different massage techniques. One massage technique doesn’t work on everything.

* They should mostly go on the muscles, like 90% of the time, because that’s what relaxes and actually feels like something.

* They shouldn’t avoid massaging the palms, head and face. It’s most pleasing for the customer.

* They should stop blabbing when they massage someone, unless that someone talks back a lot. It’s plain courtesy for a customer to say “Hey, how are you, how’ve you been.” But you’d better keep it short, unless they go on talking.

* Pleasant sounds in the massage room is always a plus. Pleasant sounds = Buddha Bar, Sounds of nature or something alike, not what you or the customer prefer.

* Using great smelling oil and other massage things, like hot stones, is always a plus.

* It’s never too late to learn new tricks. Such as slowly caressing someone’s ankles, in circles, by catching them between your thumb and middle finger. It’s mind blowing. So don’t be afraid to exchange information with other massage therapists.

* If you’ve never been a fan of reflexology, don’t try it on people. Only those who really know what it’s about should try it.

That’s all I remember. Anyone care to say more?
